PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Oleksandr earned a law degree at Kyiv National University and began his law career in 1996. He obtained his lawyer’s licence to practice law in 2001 and has completed finance law courses in Vienna and London. He is fluent in English and his native languages. During his professional activity, Oleksandr has worked on hundreds of court cases in commercial, civil, and administrative courts and criminal proceedings pertaining to business crime. Along with practicing law privately, Oleksandr has been engaged, at times, as an in-house counsel and took positions as Legal Director in several international banks. He has also worked as a senior official at the National Bank of Ukraine, as a partner at a leading investment company, and had been a member of the supervisory board of a large steel plant in Hungary. Oleksandr’s experience also includes management of recovery and restructuring multi-billion NPL portfolios for European banks.
Oleksandr established the Zavadetskyi Advocates bureau in 2009. The main specialization of Zavadetskyi Advocates is in commercial, administrative, and complex civil litigation. In particular, during 2019-2021, the bureau won all of its 29 cases considered by the Supreme Court of Ukraine and dozens of cases in courts of appeal. Along with disputes between private entities, the bureau successfully defends commercial entities, business owners, and top managers in disputes with public agencies such as the State Tax Office, State Customs Office, National Bank of Ukraine, state-run Deposit Guarantee Fund, and others.
